The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) has announced that it is giving the government until July 21, 2026, to fulfill its demands following the latest round of negotiations.
In an official statement, Umar Nazir Kashmiri, a member of the JAAC, said that the ongoing sit-ins across Azad Kashmir will continue and that the Long March has not been called off. Instead, it has been temporarily postponed to allow another round of dialogue with the government.
According to JAAC, the government has been given until July 21 to meet the committee’s key demands, which include:
- Restoring internet services across the affected areas before any further negotiations on the remaining demands.
- Returning the bodies of protesters killed during the recent clashes.
- Releasing Shaukat Nawaz Mir and all other detained JAAC leaders and activists.
- Accepting and implementing JAAC’s demands and ending action against peaceful protesters.
Umar Nazir Kashmiri said that the restoration of internet services is a prerequisite for meaningful dialogue, adding that the government should restore communication services before discussions on the remaining demands move forward.
He further stated that if these demands are not fulfilled by July 21, 2026, JAAC will launch a Long March towards Muzaffarabad on July 22, 2026, with what he described as the full participation and support of the people.
He added that the sit-ins will remain in place until the committee’s demands are met, while dialogue with the government continues.
